Today is YOUR Day

I heard many athletes today bemoaning the poor choices that they made over Memorial Day weekend (myself included!).  I read this article on the Journal Menu (www.journalmenu.com), and thought it to be proper inspiration at just the right time:

It’s a new day.

Yesterday is gone.

Gone with it are your missed reps, your ugly reps and your not-quite-ROM reps – it’s a new day, a day where you can choose to put that all behind you and do it right.

Gone with yesterday is your DFL (dead-f$%*ing-last) or your DNF (did-not-finish) or your DNS (did-not-start) – it’s a new day, a day where you can start and finish, improve and excel.

Gone with yesterday are your excuses. “I’m too tired”, “I’m too busy”, “I’m too _______” – that was all yesterday. Today you can throw your excuses to the wind and make a single short hour for yourself and your health.

Gone are the choices that you wish you didn’t make. Maybe it was tearing into that cake, choosing work over life or choosing easy over healthy. Today you start anew. Today you can make the right choices.

Gone too are your PRs, your crushed WODs and your triumphs.

Today is a new day.

Today the bar is set a little bit higher.

Today is the day to make the choices you wish you had made yesterday.

Today is the day to give thanks where it is due, to tell your coaches they rock and to tell your team mates they are awesome.

Today is a new day.

Today is YOUR day.

    Great Post. Actually yesterday was my day. I ran the 200 meters in the WOD four rounds with a personal best for jerk weight. Not a big deal to some but for the tendonitis in my foot running and lifting heavy without pain is a very big deal for me. It has been about one year without running and I am so happy my foot is healing, it felt great. Thank you coach Rachel for the advice on the after care of ice and stretching it worked out perfectly. I am not ready for box jumps or dble unders just yet but it sure feels good to run.
