PLEASE, take the time to watch the above video.
The video ponders the question: “What is beauty?”
It is certainly put eloquently. Allow me to highlight it for you…
First off, it is easier to describe it, than to define it; which most of us have a tendency to do.
Beauty is making your body a “finely tuned machine”. What happens aesthetically afterwards, becomes beauty.
Confidence equals beauty. People begin to CrossFit and suddenly they’re walking around a bit taller, shoulders back, rockin’ a sports bra. That’s beauty.
Beauty is “to recognize and accept the body’s gifts and shortcomings and to oppose discipline over them. And then beauty is no longer fleeting, but becoming.” Hell yeah...
Perseverance equals beauty. Pay attention to the video at minute 1:23. There is a female athlete attempting to figure out how to successfully pull a sled loaded with weight. When she figures it out, that’s beautiful. You see, CrossFit makes us grow physically, but also mentally. And that is beautiful…
“The fashion industry [...] requires life’s rich resources: mobility, strength, and even intelligence to be squandered in the pursuit of a pitiful aesthetic”. Hopefully, someday, there will be a shift in to understanding that just because society deems us “beautiful” on the outside, doesn’t mean we perform well; it also doesn’t mean we are good on the inside.
Beauty is measured in joy. Beauty is measured in pride.
“Being able to say ‘yeah, I can do that‘ puts you head and shoulders ahead of the population [...] if you want to look good, do stuff well. And do what life demands of you and everything else will fall into place”.
