The 2013 Lurong Paleo Challenge: The Results Are In!

Before you get excited, Kelly, DP, and I haven’t yet decided on the overall Shoreline CrossFit winner; however, DP spent several hours gathering data to come up with our athletes who came out on top.  We will save our inches lost, pounds shed, WOD improvement and overall winner for a blog next week…

Let’s talk commitment….

Overall, Shoreline CrossFit was 92% compliant in their diet for the eight solid weeks of competition.  An A-; I’d say that’s not too bad!

Check out the following NINE individuals who did not cheat ONE SINGLE TIME during the challenge (WOW!):
Lisa Williams
Jack Yeager
Elizabeth Vidro
CathyAnn Roding
Joe Calamita
Lisa Pageau
Lynn DeMusus-Grady
Joe Narciso
Roxanne Mellilo

The next EIGHT people deserve an honorable mention for maintaining an A average throughout the challenge:

Lindsey Russo 99.25%
Stephen Signore 99.25%
Ashley Martone 98.5%
Sofia Calamita 97%
Allyson Shields 96.7%
Charlotte Abdon 96.2%
Ron Winslow 94.8%
Monica Romano 94.8%

Are you interested in finding out during which meal we excelled the most?

The Answer? BREAKFAST.  97% compliancy in the morning. Our participants had 94% compliancy during lunch and 86% compliancy at dinner time.

So what do these statistics tell you?  Well, if we are taking our participants as a sample population, then we need to clean it up at dinner time.  If these people who were competing had a tendency to cheat at dinner time, what are the rest of us doing?  Probably a lot worse…and then going to sleep on our cheating stomachs…

Okay, okay…enough about the diet, how did our athletes do on the benchmark and performance workouts? Here are our top three performers (all athletes are L3 unless otherwise specified–as we started to compile all the stats it got to be quite the task.  All athletes can go on the Lurong website to see where they placed in each WOD):

Seriously, folks..HATS OFF to ALL participants of the Lurong 2013 Paleo Challenge.  This took a degree of discipline that has not gone unrecognized.  And, so what if you totally bombed it??  At least it made you stay clean for a week, or three days, or not eat a third piece of chocolate cake.

Let’s not forget that the Paleo “diet”, is not really a diet as much as it is a lifestyle.  The challenge may be over, now let the lifestyle begin…
