I was turning 50 in 2010 and I wanted to give myself the best gift I could – my health. Moving into my 50’s, I needed to grab the aging process by the horns, slow it down and get stronger. I have a husband and a 6 year old son for whom I wanted to be fit and vibrant. I’ve always been active, but I wasn’t where I wanted to be. The problem was I had no idea where to be, or how to get there. I know that proper diet and exercise is essential, but putting it all together is difficult. I have a treadmill at home collecting dust because it is so boring. I also knew the typical gym was not for me either. The truth is, I walk into a gym and get overwhelmed and aggravated. I waste time walking around trying to figure it all out. I wanted a workout with instruction, integrity and grit. I wanted a personal trainer. A personal trainer that I could afford to help me to get the results I wanted. I was introduced to Shoreline Crossfit in June 2010. There I met three business partners’ and trainers; husband and wife team Dave and Lauren Plumey and Kelly Walsh. They are the owners and driving force behind Shoreline Crossfit. They and their team of trainers are exhilarating people to be trained by. I saw that they have created is a fitness center with a no frills attitude to waste my time. What I felt was a direct approach to work my body with the instruction I needed to get the results I wanted all within an hour. Was I scared? You betcha! I found exactly what I was looking for and now it was up to me to take it. No more excuses, I was excited and joined the beginners class. While I was learning the ropes, I was encouraged by their team of trainers to work hard and do my best. I was welcomed with open arms into a fitness strategy of mind, body and soul that I could relate to and make my own. SCF showed me ways to change my food choices to improve my health. They trained me on weight lifting that I could see firmness develop while slimming down in the process. I never felt I had to do more than I could, but they gave me the confidence to reach for more. This program is more expensive then the typical gym, but it offers you so much in return. It offers attainable results that I can see and feel. It offers the personal trainers I wanted in a setting that I love and have embraced. SCF has added years to my life to enjoy with my family and friends and is worth every penny. I look forward to every workout with an “I can’t wait to sink my teeth into that barbell” attitude. When was the last time you worked out with a bunch people and high fived the person next you? I just had a great time working out and loved every minute of it. You can too, invest in yourself, you are worth it. 3, 2, 1, GO!
